Liss: Man arrested after woman, 96, found dead in house fire

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 96-year-old woman was found dead in a house fire in east Hampshire.
The elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene when she was discovered by firefighters called to Mill Road in Liss on Friday morning.
The 26-year-old man from Liss is being questioned as officers investigate the cause of the blaze.
A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: "We were called at 5.18am on Friday 17 May to a report of a fire at an address in Mill Road, Liss.
"Upon officer attendance, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service confirmed that a 96-year-old woman had been pronounced dead at the scene.
"Her next of kin have been informed.
"An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire and a scene will remain in place while these enquiries are carried out.
"As part of our enquiries a 26-year-old man from Liss has been arrested on suspicion of murder."
