Jurassic Coast ramblers warned to avoid Hive Beach

For many people in Dorset, a Christmas walk along the Jurassic Coast is one tradition which can remain the same, but, the county council are urging people to avoid Hive Beach.

This follows a rockfall last week, which following the sustained bad weather and strong waves crashing against the cliffs, make the coastal path and beach dangerous.

Dorset Council rangers have checked last week’s rockfall at Hive Beach and there has been no change in the situation, which means that the cliff and the fallen material is still unstable.

Warnings have been placed along the coastal path, which will be diverted through National Trust land.

Dorset County Council say:

“The Jurassic Coast is a wonderful place to visit, but it's important to use common sense and caution – stay away from the edge and base of cliffs and always pay attention to warning signs and safety messages.”
