Human remains found on West Wittering beach
A police investigation is underway
Police have launched an investigation after human remains were found on West Wittering beach.
Officers were called to the beach at around 5pm on Sunday (January 24th) following a report from a member of the public.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said a decayed skeleton was unearthed from the mud in Sheepwash Lane.
The remains were recovered by specialist forensic teams and sent for examination.
The spokesperson added that the discovery is being treated as 'unexplained', and that the body was found in an area where historical burial sites are located.
