There could be some big changes to the recycling centres in Hampshire in the coming months.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a number of measures have been in place for the safety of residents.

At the county's 24 household waste recycling centres, a booking system is in place and the normal ÂŁ5 charge for non residents is not being implemented.

Changes

As lockdown is due to ease on the 21st of June, Hampshire County Council is now considering:

-Extending the booking system

-Reinstating a charge of ÂŁ5 for non-Hampshire residents visiting HWRCs

-The removal of glass banks (which was due to happen in April)

-Testing the feasibility of pedestrian access

To begin with, the Council will trial pedestrian access at three sites if agreed (Hedge End, New Alresford and Waterlooville)

A decision is due to be made on all of these points on the 17th June.
