A man who murdered a mum-of-three in Portsmouth 28 years ago could be released from prison.
Victor Farrant hid Glenda Hoskins' body in the attic of her home in Port Solent in February 1996.
He became one of Britain's most wanted men after going on the run before finally being arrested in France.
When he was sentenced for life in 1998, the judge told Farrant he would never be freed.
Glenda Hoskins' three children have reportedly been told he could be released on compassionate grounds because he has terminal cancer.
A Ministry of Justice spokesperson said: "Glenda Hoskins’ murder was a horrific crime and our thoughts remain with her family and friends.
"Prisoners are only released on compassionate grounds in exceptional circumstances following strict risk assessments and no formal application has yet been made in this case."
