Dorset Police say they are stepping up patrols due to a new social media craze.

The force say incidents of knocking on doors and running away have now escalated.

Some cases have involved damaged to property and assaults, leaving elderly and vulnerable people scared in their own homes.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said:

" We will be increasing patrols, and anyone identified as responsible will be robustly dealt with.

" If anyone has information on these crimes please ring 101 or contact Crimestoppers."
