A Christmas shopping event in the New Forest has been cancelled because of cost-of-living concerns.

The Beaulieu Festive Fayre was due to be held at the National Motor Museum from 9 – 11 December.

Organisers said they had taken the "very difficult decision" because of the current economic climate.

The event was due to feature food stalls, artisan creators, local producers and crafting experts.

People who have bought tickets are promised a full refund.

A spokesperson for Beaulieu and event organiser Immediate Live said: "The current economic climate has proved incredibly challenging to deliver an event that will meet the expected quality of experience for visitors and exhibitors.

"Despite the festive fayre being cancelled, the Beaulieu visitor attraction will still be open that weekend.

"We would like to offer our sincerest apologies for the disappointment and inconvenience caused."
