Woman arrested on suspicion of neglect after death of toddler
The child was found seriously ill in a property in Southampton
A woman has been arrested following the death of a three-year-old in Southampton.
Paramedics were called to a property in Wharncliffe Road in Woolston shortly before 7.00am on 29 Dec where the child was seriously unwell.
Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the child was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
A 40-year-old woman from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of neglect and causing or allowing the death of a child.
She has since been released on police bail until 29 March.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "We are at the very early stages of our investigation and enquiries into the exact circumstances are ongoing."
