October was the busiest month of the year so far
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance recorded its busiest month of the year so far in October.
Crews were called out 146 times.
Most frequent call-outs: cardiac related incidents (42), medical incidents (21), such as strokes, and road traffic incidents (15).
Among those incidents: a major gas explosion in Portsmouth on Friday 22 October, a fatal incident on Salisbury Plain involving army personnel, a train crash in Fisherton Tunnel, Salisbury.
77 missions in our aircraft, Helimed56, and 69 in our Emergency Response Vehicles.
The charity says they have now responded to a total of 1,301 call-outs so far this year – an average of four missions per day.
Each mission costs on average £2,882.
