Bournemouth & Poole College looking to build 'world class facilities'
They've submitted redevelopment plans for the Lansdowne site
Bournemouth & Poole College are preparing to redevelop the Lansdowne campus with funding from The Department of Education (DfE).
The aim of the project is to create a learning environment suitable for the next 25 years. Phil Sayles, Principal of Bournemouth & Poole College, says: “We are delighted to have been awarded government funding, which will future-proof our facilities for future generations.”
The College is due to submit a planning application to the BCP Council featuring drawings and artist impressions of what the new and improved site will look like.
Funding will be used to improve much of the Lansdowne campus educational facilities, providing increased opportunities for future learners, while still encompassing and complimenting the historic ‘Clock Tower Building’.
Mr Sayles said: “Contractors and planners have engaged local parties to ensure the design is sympathetic to the surrounding area and college grounds.”
Upon completion in 2026, the campus will is said to offer the highest quality educational resources in the country featuring “best-in-class facilities.”
With the DfE funding, the campus will Students will welcome hair and barbering salons, beautician rooms, a new restaurant and a professional kitchen.
The class of 2026 will also be treated to a sports hall and gym, CGI suites, flexible-use classrooms and IT rooms and a “huge” improvement to the outdoor spaces in hopes of creating a rich campus atmosphere.
Mr Sayles said: “our plans to upgrade the campus are a critical part of keeping BCP on the map as a prosperous, forward-looking economic hub, delivering a bright future for businesses and workers.”
He proposes that providing world-class learning facilities will subsequently help support local employers as there will be a “growing pool of highly skilled and trained workers”, particularly in the most ‘in-demand’ sectors such as media, cyber security, visitor economy, and hospitality.
