West Mercia Police says it's vital they continue to educate people around the dangers carrying a knife can hold.
Forces across the country have been focusing on the problem during knife crime awareness week, and ways they can reduce the number of incidents.
Richard Field is the District Inspector for Redditch and Bromsgrove, and says it's important they continue to do everything they can stop it.
He said: "We have to work on this every day, and make sure that we're out there stopping and searching people to take knives off the streets.
"A lot of our focus is around prevention, and diverting young people in particular away from knife crime, and educating that person that by picking up a knife, they're creating a danger to not only others, but also to themselves.
"Many people pick up a knife because they fear someone attacking them, but if we remove that fear, remove the chance of that person picking up the knife, we then remove the chances of someone being seriously injured."
Knife Crime Awareness Week has been running from the 20-26th May.
