Weather warning in place for Telford this weekend
A yellow weather warning for wind is in place on Sunday (22nd Dec)
The MET office issued a yellow weather warning for wind for Telford this Sunday (22nd Dec).
It is in place from midnight to 9pm and follows on from Storm Darragh.
The aftermath of the Storm lead to 500 reports of fallen trees across the borough of Telford and Wrekin.
The council said they are still out every day trying to clear the damage.
Councillor Carolyn Healy said: “The scale of the damage and fallen trees we have seen in the last two weeks as a result of Storm Darragh is as bad as we have ever known.
“With more strong winds forecast, trees weakened in the previous storm could be affected leading to further damage and disruption.
“We understand residents may be frustrated with the wait to clear the damage caused but we truly appreciate continued patience given the scale of what we are dealing with.
“Thank you to our tree officers and contractors for continuing to work so hard in these exceptional circumstances," she said.
Met Office deputy chief meteorologist, Rebekah Hicks, said: "This period of disruptive weather coincides with a busy period on UK roads as the festive getaway starts for many.
"The area of low pressure will bring rain and strong winds on Saturday, with a chance of significant disruption especially to transport networks across the north, including the potential for ferry cancellations.
"The strongest winds are expected across northern Scotland on Saturday afternoon and evening, with the potential for gusts of 80 to 85mph in coastal districts," they said.
