Burntwood daughters doing something positive after tragic death of parents in Spain
Ruth O'Loughlin's parents were found dead in their car after flash floods in Spain
The daughters of the two British people killed in flash floods in Spain have said they want to bring a positive ending to the tragic deaths of their parents.
Don Turner, 78, and Terry Turner, 74, were found dead in their car, last Saturday (Nov 2nd).
Now, their daughters from Burntwood, Renee and Ruth, want to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.
"We sort of knew that we had lost our parents. We knew that our mum would have done anything to get back to their pets.
"They are massive animal lovers. Mom volunteered at the local dogs rescue," explained Ruth.
The daughters are going to raise money for that dog rescue centre called 'The Rastro'.
Ruth said they both want a positive end to the nightmare they are facing.
Their parents were living near to Valencia, which is where they went missing.
They had told neighbours they were going to get gas for their cooker, when they never returned home.
"We both got a phone call to say that they had been found and, unfortunately, they had died," said Renee.
The pair claim the Spanish authorities did not act quick enough.
"My parents would not have been out with that alert. We are so angry with the slackness of the Spanish authorities in that respect.
"They acted far too late. What happened in Valencia was unnecessary," said Renee.
This comes as the Spanish government focuses it's attention on supporting those that have been affected by the floods.
Today, (Nov 5th) the Spanish government approved a 10.6-billion-euro (£8.9 billion) relief package for 78 communities.
They include direct payments of 20,000 euros to 60,000 euros to owners of damaged homes, among other financial aid for businesses and municipal governments.
