Image released as police investigate Banbury assault
A man was taken to hospital following the attack last month
Thames Valley Police are releasing an image of a man officers would like to speak to in relation to an assault in Banbury.
At around 3am on Sunday 11 August, the victim, a man in his thirties, entered a shop on Broad Street to buy a bottle of water.
The offender was in the shop trying to purchase alcohol but was refused service by the shop owner.
Afterwards, the victim then began speaking with the shop owner which agitated the offender.
Next, the offender assaulted the victim by punching and kneeing him to his head before making off towards the train station.
The victim sustained facial injuries which required hospital treatment, but has since been discharged.
Investigating officer PC Matthew Whitehead, based at Banbury police station, said: “We are appealing to anyone who may recognise the individual in this image to please get in touch as he may have vital information about this incident.
“This incident happened during the busy night time economy in Banbury, as people would have been making their way home.
“We ask that anyone who may have dash-cam, CCTV footage, or mobile phone footage that could assist our enquiry to please come forward."
