Body located in Oxford in police search for missing man

It follows reports from Longbridges Nature Park

Officers from Thames Valley Police with support from Oxfordshire Search and Rescue, have sadly recovered a man’s body from the water.

At around 7.45pm yesterday evening, April 24th, teams received reports of a body in the water in Longbridges Nature Park, Oxford.

Tragically the body of a man, aged in his seventies, was located in the water by members of the public and was recovered a short time later.

The man’s death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

The man’s next of kin have been informed and they are being offered support by officers.

Detective Inspector Krista Thompson of Oxford CID said:

“Sadly, yesterday we discovered the body of a man in Longbridges Nature Park.

“Our thoughts remain with his family at this incredibly difficult time.

“I would like to thank our colleagues at Oxfordshire Search and Rescue for their assistance with recovery, as well as the members of the public who found him.”
