Appeal for information after a number of assaults in Banbury incident
It happened on Boxhedge Road
Thames Valley Police is appealing for a specific witness to come forward following an incident in which a number of people were also assaulted in Banbury.
At around 7.15pm on Tuesday 22nd October, this happened at Boxhedge Road.
A black saloon car pulled up to pick up a man near the roundabout on Belgrave Crescent.
At the same time, a number of men and women travelling in white hatchback vehicle, which had been following the man, stopped and got out.
They then dragged a woman out of the car and repeatedly assaulted her, as well as touching her inappropriately, and making threats.
The man who had got into the black car and another man went to defend her, when they were also assaulted. It's believed weapons were used during the assault too.
Six arrests have been made of three men and three women, with all bailed pending further enquiries.
Detective Constable Connie Palfrey, said:
“This was a concerning incident and we have made a number of arrests following this incident.
“We have been conducting thorough enquiries into this incident and following a number of lines of enquiry and we believe that the parties involved in this incident are known to each other, as such we do not believe there to be a threat to the wider public.
“We are aware that two men who were walking by and stopped at the scene to try and help, and we are aware that a silver hatchback, a black estate, a red Mini and a white VW polo or similar also passed the scene.
“Additionally a small blue SUV style vehicle also sounded its horn.
“We would ask all of these motorists and the two men who stopped on foot to please come forward."
