Balmoral Show: agri spectacle off and running
Thousands of visitors from all over the UK attend opening day
Thousands of visitors from all over the UK converged on Lisburn yesterday (Wednesday) as the 155th annual Balmoral Show got off to a rousing start.
The spectacle - the biggest on Northern Ireland's agri calendar - will be taking place over the next four years.
Show jumping and cattle showing were among the opening highlights.
Organisers say the show could see some of its biggest-ever attendances - particularly with the good weather.
Visitors can expect to see over 3,900 head of livestock across the highly competitive classes.
A spokesperson said the calibre and quality of entries year on year was a testament to the "exceptional quality of local produce in Northern Ireland and the competitive spirit only adds to the excitement across the showgrounds."
The second day gets under way at 9.30 this morning with gates closing at 8pm.
The public access route to the show is via GATE 1 and 2 Halftown Road.
