Youngest president to lead the Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers
25-year-old George Roberts will lead the organisation for the next 12 months
The Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers has its youngest ever president.
For the next 12 months, 25-year-old George Roberts is set to lead the organisation which has been in existence for nearly 45 years.
It hosts a variety of events throughout the year which raises money for local causes and charities.
George said: "It feels good. I've been waiting 12 months to come into the role, so I've had a little bit of grounding, I've done my homework and I've watched our past president Richard have a good 12 months on the back of Covid, so I'm quite confident for the next year ahead.
"We've got on August 13th we've got our annual community fair, which takes place down Westborough in the town centre. We've got local organisations and charities that can hire a table and promote themselves. It's a big community event so we're looking forward to it.
"It's not just working with younger people in the town but working with businesses and organisations that I can connect to. It's to give people an outlook of what rotary itself is about and to show them that you can have a busy life, a work life, a family life and you can still give that extra little bit of support."
