People on the Yorkshire Coast are remembering the Duke of Edinburgh ahead of his funeral later today.

Prince Philip died aged 99 on Friday 9th April.

Tony Arnall is the landlord of The Blacksmith Arms Inn Pub in Cloughton.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh had lunch there during the royal visit to Scarborough back in 2010.

Tony said:

"It was such a beautiful day, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was like 21 degrees and they came and they were about two hours at the Blacksmith's. We met the Queen and Prince Philip and he joked when he was leaving and just said 'oh, we'll be back next year.'"

Also in 2010, a Scarborough children's charity worker received a letter from The Duke of Edinburgh.

Jackie Link is treasurer of the Little Foot Trust who arranges a guided tour of Buckingham Palace for a group of local kids.

She said:

"I wrote to Prince Philip and said who we were, we were a Scarborough based charity and in previous years, we'd been in the Royal Mews and could he sort it and he wrote back to me and said that the children could willingly go along, it would be pleasure and we still do that now. So it's happened every year since Prince Philip set it up for us.

"Really the letter it was one of disbelief because it was a little bit tongue-in-cheek because nobody could help us so I thought 'well we'll go to the top and we'll write to Prince Philip and see what he comes back with' and it was just lovely. We were jumping for joy to be fair.

"I wrote and said how much I felt they benefitted from it and he said that it was lovely, he'd like it to continue and he was pleased to have receive the letter and if we needed anything else, not to sort of hesitate to ask and he would sort it out, and the equerry to the Queen rang and said 'oh, I've been asked by Prince Philip to get in touch with you' and it went from there."

Scarborough dignitaries also paid tribute on the day of his death and the following days:
