Yorkshire Coast farmers and agriculturalists to attend Great Yorkshire Show
The annual event is being held in Harrogate this week
People on the Yorkshire Coast will showcase all things agricultural this week as part of the Great Yorkshire Show.
It will see livestock, tractors, machinery and locally-produced food and drinks put on display at the annual event in Harrogate.
One of those attending is Robert Childerhouse, estate manager at Mulgrave Castle, which is a farm in Lythe near Whitby.
He said: "I've got a 12 year-old who's very keen on everything rural; tractors and animals so we're going to be looking at all of those. From a personal point of view, for work and for the estate, it's really good to go to the Great Yorkshire Show. One of the best things I'll be going to is the Country Land and Business Association events they do.
"I like to look at all sorts of things but probably my favourite part will be the food tent I expect because I like to get in there and try all the new things that are made in Yorkshire. There are some fantastic things that get produced; from cheeses, meats, ciders, beers, gin and rum.
"It would be great to go and look at all the wonderful animals that will be shown. We'd have the best of the crop at the Yorkshire Show and it'll be great to watch them being washed, dressed, groomed and shown as well.
"It's good that a lot of businesses from the Yorkshire Coast area go there to promote themselves. Everyone's heard about the Yorkshire Dales or the Yorkshire Moors and if you're a tourist, those are the areas you go to so I think it's really good that the coastal community and coastal economy is well represented and promoted."
