York City Supporter's Trust has said a deal to finance a full takeover of the club has fallen through at the "last minute".

It's looking to buy shares from chairman Glen Henderson, who has a majority stake in the side, before a deadline of April 4th.

In a statement, the Trust said: "The process for changing ownership has continued in the background, and the deadline to obtain Glen Henderson’s shares remains at the 4th April 2023.

"The Trust are expecting a number of bids to progress beyond stage 4 of the Investment process outlined in our statement dated 18th January 2023.

"Once the bids have been received these will be passed to the Scrutiny Committee lead by Trust board members Jim Calverley and Seth Sowerby who will commence their process immediately.

"The Trust will provide an update next week outlining further details of the Scrutiny Committee."

The chairman confirmed his intentions to leave York City last month, after less than 12 months in the role.

If a bid from the Supporter's Trust is not received by April 4th, Henderson will be able to offer his stake out to the wider market.
