York City legend Alf Patrick dies aged 100
Alf scored 117 goals for the club, and recently celebrated his 100th birthday.
York City legend Alf Patrick has died at the age of 100.
Alf played for City between 1946 and 1952, scoring 117 goals in 241 league and cup appearances – which puts him fourth on the all-time goalscoring list for the club.
The York-born striker also holds the record for most goals scored in a single game for York City – with five against Rotherham United in November 1948.
A celebration was recently held for him for his 100th birthday at the end of September.
The club have put out a statement saying: "We are saddened to learn the passing of York City legend Alf Patrick, aged 100.
"Our thoughts are with all Alf's family and friends at this time. RIP."
