A Christmas tree grown in York has been put up outside one of the most famous homes in the country.

Local firm 'York Christmas Trees' of Wigginton Road in the city won the honour to provide a tree to go outside 10 Downing Street after winning the title of 'Champion Christmas Tree Grower of the Year', at the annual British Christmas Tree Growers Association awards.

It's the first time ever the award has gone to a grower from the north of England.

The tree left York for the journey to London on Wednesday afternoon...

It was then brought into Downing Street yesterday (Friday)...

A team then set to work decorating it with lights and baubles...

Then last night, Downing Street officials released a video on Twitter showing off their new tree...
