More support is being offered in York for women struggling with their mental health.

They are being invited along to Claire's Women's club which is a weekly meet up in the City.

It was started by Claire Swinburn - who says there was a real need: "It's actually a suicide prevention group but that doesn't mean you have to be suicidal to attend, the idea is that you come along, make friends, connections and if God forbid you did feel suicidal at any time in your life, you would have these connections to fall back on."

"It's all just very informal, friendly and you just get a chance to let out what you may have been keeping in with other like minded women."

"The idea came about when I was on a rehab course, this time last year with a guy who runs Andy Man's club in York and he said we really need a ladies version so I took it upon myself that would be one of my goals."

"It's totally free, there is no fees, we're relying on donations and fundraising at the moment but as things progress, we're hoping to see bigger and better things happening for us."

"For Claire's women's club it's about being heard, it's not for people just in recovery it's for any woman that is finding the woes of life a bit too much for them, or they just need to reach out and make friends and are feeling lonely."
