Whitby's vaccination centre is set to close at the end of August with clinics fully booked for the Summer.

It is as the town's Pavilion is due to fully re-open for public events, meaning adults will not be able to get their jabs there anymore.

The Whitby Coast and Moors Primary Care Network say they only have enough stock for the next month or so, with insufficient amounts to allow walk-ins.

Dr. Simon Stockill, its Clinical Director, said:

"Our clinics are now fully booked with 1,185 patients having appointments.

You can go online to the NHS national website where you if you click on the link to the Covid vaccinations, it can take you through to the national booking system. It does mean travelling to one of the sites in the region but there are sites in Middlesbrough, other parts of Teesside as well as York and our colleagues in Scarborough are running some walk-in clinics.

"We've been inviting 18 year-olds and over now for about four to five weeks in Whitby so we are conscious that people have busy lives, that there is some level of uncertainty but so far the response has been pretty good and overall it looks like we're going to be more than 85% of the adult population have already had their first dose.

"I am concerned about the fact that there are some people who may be late comers to the vaccine programme or who are just turning 18. We are looking at other alternatives including things like community pharmacies being able to deliver this and also pop-up clinics if we're getting demand that we can't meet by local walk-in services such as in Scarborough.

"We have started planning how the proposed covid vaccine booster (third dose) will be provided to patients in Whitby alongside flu vaccines in the Autumn. Further details will be shared with patients when we have more detail from the government and Public Health England".
