Whitby Town FC are teaming up with Whitby Food Bank to open the Towbar Express Stadium at The Turnbull Ground as a donation point for their pre-Christmas fixtures.

The club says many families are struggling due to the cost of living crisis and the Seasiders are looking to rally round and try to help those most in need.

Supporters who would like to make donations can do so in the club shop on match days, when the Seasiders host Hyde United (Tuesday 6th December, 7:45pm KO) and Matlock Town (Saturday 10th December, 3pm KO).

However, opportunities to donate are not limited to just those two match days. If you are not able to make a match, but would like to donate anyway, you can pop into the Towbar Express Stadium any day through the week.

Whitby Town Commercial Manager Paul Connolly said: “As a football club, the community that we serve is of the utmost importance to us.

"We're coming up to a difficult time of year for so many people, made worse by the ever-increasing cost of living, so as a club our time to step up has come to help those most in need across Whitby and the surrounding area.

"We appreciate that not everybody will be in a position to donate - and that's fine. The cost of living crisis has affected so many people, but any donation, be it one item, or several, will be massively appreciated by everyone at both Whitby Town and Whitby Food Bank.

"Over the years, the generosity of the supporters and people involved with the club when it comes to things like this has been second to none. I am certain that, as always, the Blues fans will do everything they can once again to help those who need it."

Currently, the items currently required most by the food bank in the run-up to Christmas are:

● Tinned cold meat/ham

● Tinned meat for heating/Fray Bentos/Hot Dogs etc.

● Tinned Fruit

● Tinned Tomatoes

● Tinned Vegetables

● Jar Pasta Sauce

● Dry Rice

● Biscuits

● Milk (long life or powder)

● Sugar

● Jam

● Soap, shower gel, shampoo

● Toothpaste
