Whitby Christmas Festival returns for its sixth year
It's on Front Marina Car Park and Langbourne Road until tomorrow
Whitby's Christmas Festival and Market is back in its sixth year.
It is on Front Marina Car Park and Langbourne Road until tomorrow (Sunday 20th November).
There will be a fireworks display from East Cliff, viewable around the harbourside, at 6.45pm.
Organiser, Councillor Phil Trumper, said: "When it first started out, the Christmas Festival was designed to bring people into Whitby to do their shopping instead of going to the bigger places. We really wanted to maintain the footfall for the local businesses, so people can come and look at the market but also go into town as well and do their shopping in town.
"We've got some fantastic shops in Whitby where people can go. If you come to the market, go into the town as well and look around the town because there's some great shops to do your shopping.
"It's gotten busier every year. It's noticeable this year that the interest is immediate and people think of it as basically the start of the Christmas period in Whitby now really. People look forward to it and it's getting bigger all the time."
