Largest vampire gathering world record attempt at Whitby Abbey
From 6pm it'll try to break the Guinness World Record of 1039 which is currently won by America.
2022 marks the 125th anniversary of the first publication of Dracula, which was inspired by the dramatic ruins of Whitby’s 13th century gothic abbey and the record attempt will kick off a series of special events to celebrate.
The world-breaking attempt will take place at Whitby Abbey from 6pm today (Thursday 26th May) - 125 years to the day that Bram Stoker’s novel was published.
Traditional vampire dress is defined by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS as: black trousers, black skirt or a dress, black shoes, waistcoat, shirt, black cape or collared overcoat, and fangs on the top set of teeth.

Mark Williamson, site manager of Whitby Abbey at English Heritage, said: "We've had a good amount of registrations which would take us over the record. However, it's a free ticket so you never know with free tickets so we're really not taking it for granted and we really need people to turn out. I think there's still time for people to go to joke shop or fancy dress shop.
"The challenge of breaking this record is an exciting one and we look forward to welcoming would-be vampires to Whitby Abbey for a fun evening of entertainment and hopefully a successful new record too."
Visitors to the abbey will be treated to scenes from Dracula by Time Will Tell Theatre as well as performances from a lock Goth band. Warm up with marshmallow toasting and indulge in fish and chips
