Victim of York assault urged to come forward

It happened on Coney Street on Friday night

Police in York are appealing for the victim of an assault to come forward. 

At around 11.20pm on the night of Friday 3 December, a group of people were involved in an altercation on Coney Street in York.

CCTV operators reported a man being punched to the ground and appeared unconscious, after hitting his head as he fell.

Two men were seen to run off from the incident and were subsequently arrested by officers and taken into police custody, on suspicion of affray.

However, the victim who was seen laying in the ground, had left the scene prior to police arriving.

Officers are appealing to him to come forward.
