UPDATE: Woman arrested in connection with Whitby hit and run
A 63-year-old man was left lying in the road with serious injuries in the early hours of Tuesday morning
Police investigating a suspected hit and run in Whitby have arrested a 19 year old woman.
The teenager's being held on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision and failing to report a collision.
It's after a 63 year old man was knocked off his bike on Stakesby Road at around 1.30am in the early hours of Tuesday morning (28 March).
The cyclist was left lying in the road with serious injuries.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital where he currently remains.
North Yorkshire Police said:
'Anyone who has seen a vehicle with sudden unexplained damage or comes across one, anyone who witnessed the incident or has private CCTV footage that has captured the car or the collision, is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101.'
