World War Two hand grenade found in Scarborough

The MOD has removed the unexploded device from Filey Road.

An unexploded hand grenade has been found in Scarborough.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue was called just before 10am yesterday, to Filey Road.

A fire crew and officer from Scarborough liaised with police and the ambulance service, after a report of a World War Two hand grenade that was found, with the detonator intact.

Crews stood by awaiting the arrival of MOD EOD, which transported the grenade to a safe location, for a controlled explosion to be carried out.
