It happened at 11.30pm on Friday on Stuart Road in Acomb.
A group of two women and six men, believed to be aged 19 or 20, attacked three victims - a man in his 50s and two male teenagers - who had facial injuries and needed medical attention.
The perpetrators were last seen walking up Gale Lane towards Lidl.
