Three men arrested after armed police operation in York
It follows a report of suspicious behaviour on Lowther Street this morning.
Three men have been arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons in a public place - after a police operation in York.
A member of the public reported suspicious behaviour on Lowther Street to police - at 9.21 this morning .
Two offensive weapons were recovered on Eldon Street.
Three men, aged 47, 42 and 37, from York, were arrested around half an hour later on Neville Street - they remain in police custody.
The items in question are not firearms.
Witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation are asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room.
