Teenagers arrested in Scarborough after being found with copper piping
Police stopped them when they were on a routine patrol
Two teenagers have been arrested in Scarborough after being found with copper piping.
It happened shortly after 4pm today (Tuesday 28th March) when police were on routine patrols in the town.
They spotted the pair walking down the street with a 'large amount of electrical copper piping.'
Officers stopped the teenagers to make further enquiries and a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and burglary.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
They both remain in police custody.
North Yorkshire Police say they are keen to hear from anyone in Scarborough who may have had an amount of copper wire stolen from their premises.
