Several people injured after car crashes into York Hospital building

Several people have been injured after a car crashed into York Hospital.

Police were called at 9.34am - to reports of a collision between a car and a motorbike in the hospital car park - the car then went on to hit the wall of the pharmacy building.

The car driver and motorcyclist , along with two women in the pharmacy are believed to have sustained minor injuries.

The car park has been closed while emergency services attend.

In a statement, North Yorkshire Police said: "Police were contacted at 9.34am this morning (Wednesday 13 October 2021) with a report of a collision between a car and a motorbike in the car park of York Hospital. The car had then gone on to hit the wall of the pharmacy building.

At this stage the information we have suggests that injuries are minor. The car driver and motorcyclist are currently receiving treatment. Two women who are reported as being in the pharmacy building at the time are believed to have sustained minor injuries – one with cuts and scrapes and one with a possible broken arm.

The car park has been closed to allow emergency services to attend and recover the vehicle.

Officers are conducting enquiries to determine the circumstances around the incident.
