Scarborough bed and breakfast named world number one again
The Toulson Court's won TripAdvisor's 20th annual Travellers' Choice 'Best of the Best' Awards for Hotels.
A bed and breakfast in Scarborough has been named world number one for the second consecutive year.
The Toulson Court is the winner in TripAdvisor's 20th annual Travellers' Choice 'Best of the Best' Awards for Hotels.
It is run by Angela and James Rusden who also won the accolade last year for the first time.
Angela said: "We're just absolutely thrilled to bits. We had no idea we were even in the running to get it a second time. We always try to give you exactly what you want, so be it from a choice of different bedrooms if I have more than one room available, I'll give you a choice. We also have a massive selection of breakfasts and we give people advice on nice places to eat, nice places to go and if people come with their children, we'll give them some nuts to feed the squirrels."
James said: "It's just amazing coming out of Covid and winning it that time and then winning it again on top. We're just an everyday B&B in Scarborough, we're not the Ritz, we're not the Hilton, we're just an average everyday B&B so it's absolutely fantastic and it's fantastic for Scarborough.
"If anything, we thought by winning it last year we were put on this pedestal to get knocked off, so we thought we had less chance of winning it this year because there are people who are looking to knock you down. But obviously we've done a fantastic job and everybody's happy and have given us five star reviews all year which is fabulous.
"It put a spotlight obviously on us. We're built up on regulars so we are fairly well busy through the year anyway when we are open, but it did put a spotlight on Scarborough and show what Scarborough has to offer. I don't think people realise there's so much to do. For a base you can go everywhere from here; up to Goathland, over to Whitby, up to Sandsend, down to Filey and down to Bridlington."
The 2022 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards are based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor over the 12-month period from 1st January 2021 through 31st December 2021.
