Scarborough mental health charity reminds people of services it offers
Scarborough Survivors is holding an open day at its Alma Square centre
A Scarborough mental health charity is holding an Open Day today to remind people of the services and support it offers.
Scarborough Survivors is welcoming people to its centre on Alma Square on World Mental Health Day.
It also has a phone line and a crisis café.
Christine McKay, who is centre co-ordinator there, said:
"I'm just encouraging people who haven't been to the centre before to call in and see us to find out about mental health, how they can help to support their mental health and recognise that we all have mental health.
"It's just like your physical health. We're often given health messages about what we should do to look after ourselves better and mental health is no different. We have to be aware that our mental health is impacted by life generally and what we experience in our lives.
"We're here to support people seven days a week in our mental health resource centre on Alma Square which is a drop-in and we also have night time Crisis Café which is open seven nights a week from 7.30pm to 1am, which is also a drop-in.
"If they're feeling mentally unwell or are concerned that they're going to become more unwell then they can come in, talk to us and get support from us and we can also help them to access other support that they might need as part of overall managing their mental health and wellbeing."
