Scarborough Survivors have re-opened their doors for anyone who is in a mental health crisis.

During the pandemic and lockdowns the charity has offered purely telephone support rather than in-person help.

Andrea Woolcott, Chief Executive of Scarborough Survivors, said: "The telephone support lines are still open and we're still happy to support people over the telephone line, but the resource centre is now back open for people who are in distress or that feel they need somewhere to go that will help.

"We're more than happy to see them in the centre, help them through whatever it is they're going through, provide that social inclusion and mixing with others and the activities that we put on on a daily basis.

"We've provided over 106,000 interventions with people over the lockdown period so our staff team have been supporting between 150-200 people per day.

"It did surprise me to start with but as time went on we've had an awul lot of referrals where people don't meet the threshold to be supported by community mental health, but they need something and we have been that something.

"Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. Please call into the resource centre between 11.30am and 4.30pm. We're open seven days a week. If you need support we will be there to provide that for you. Whatever your needs may be, nothing is too little and nothing is too great."
