Festival sparkle of Christmas returns to Scarborough
It starts today and ends on Sunday
This weekend sees the festive sparkle of Christmas arrive at Scarborough Open Air Theatre.
Scarborough Sparkle, sponsored by O’Briens Funfair, Catering & Stage Hire, will take place today (Friday 25th November) until Sunday (27 November).
The theatre will host around 35 themed stalls, including handmade gifts, Christmas cards, luxury chocolates, speciality liqueur, clothing and jewellery. There will even be special gifts to buy for four legged members of the family.
The Tipi Venue, decked out in magical Christmas lights and complete with log fires, will be the ultimate destination to warm up in with mulled wine, toasted marshmallows and Christmas music.
Foodies will be in for a treat or two from the gourmet food stalls, serving up a wide variety of cuisines from around the world as well sweet treats including donuts, crepes, brownies and waffles.
There will be plenty of entertainment for younger guests from a traditional Ferris wheel, teacups, hook a duck, MEGA fun house and illuminated land train.
Children will be able to meet favourite Frozen characters Olaf, Anna and Elsa, and see if they can catch the mischievous Grinch.
Scarborough Sparkle’s very own entertainment stage will host a packed Christmas programme featuring brass bands, school choirs and characters from local pantomime productions.
A free bus service to Scarborough Sparkle will operate on tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday from Eastfield via Crossgates, Seamer Road, Falsgrave and Scarborough town centre. The bus timetable can be viewed on the Scarborough Sparkle Facebook page.
Councillor Jim Grieve, Scarborough Borough Council cabinet member for quality of life, said:
“If you’re seeking more than a touch of festive magic to get your Christmas preparations underway, Scarborough Sparkle is a must for your event calendar.
“See Scarborough OAT in its winter guise, magically transformed from live summer gig venue, to a Christmas themed wonderland for all ages, tastes and budgets.”
