Scarborough's Race for Life to take place for the first time in 2 years
Cancer Research UK's Race for Life to take place today, October 6
Scarborough's Race for Life takes place this afternoon (October 6) for the first time in two years.
The event is for Cancer Research and people will be running 3K or 5k along the seafront, to raise money for and awareness of the charity.
The two events will take place in Scarborough at the Sealife centre, with Covid-19 measures in place.
Last year, the charity took the difficult decision to cancel all 400 Race for Life events across the UK, to protect the country’s health caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
But this afternoon the event is back and is open to all ages and abilities.
And last week, Race for Life announced an audio series, Walk and Talk with me , to accompany and to keep the participants motivated:
Siobhan Byrne, Cancer Research UK’s spokesperson for North Yorkshire, said:
“Race for Life offers the perfect opportunity for people across the region to run, walk or jog and raise money for life-saving research.
"All 400 mass participation Race for Life events across the UK were cancelled last year to protect the country’s health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"So this year, more than ever, we need people to enter the Race for Life - for the people we love, for the people we’ve lost and for the one in two of us who will get cancer.”
