A project in Scarborough which teaches children how to ride motorbikes and dirt bikes has helped reduce anti-social behaviour.

'Mud In Your Blood' is based on a part of land on Seamer Road but it is being sold by its owners.

Now, the people behind the project are fundraising to buy the land to keep it running.

Chairman, Peter Goodworth, said: "If we don't have the piece of land then obviously kids have still got bikes and they'll end up illegally riding on pieces of land and around the streets being a nuisance. This gives them somewhere safe to come in a good environment and be taught properly hopefully when they become a bit older to be better riders.

"We're backed by the council as they set up the group initially. The police helped back us by giving us some funding for machinery for the track and keep it safe and in good condition. The police said when we started doing this that street crime, noise nuisance and illegal riding has gone down dramatically.

"We have any age. Our youngest is five years-old. They come along and some have their own bikes, some of them do a bit of training. If their parents have a big bike then they can go out on the big track and we have a kids training track. It's just a big family atmosphere.

"We encourage families and children to come along. The children who've never ridden before we can train, we can hire our vehicles out and we give them one-to-one training and encourage families to come along on a Sunday where parents and children can join in and ride together."
