Scarborough MP defends government's Christmas plan
Robert Goodwill says you don't have to mix with others, if you don't want to.
Scarborough and Whitby's MP says you don't have to mix with others over Christmas if you don't want to.
Robert Goodwill's been reacting to criticism from some. after last night's announcement that a bubble of three households can be together for five days.
There are fears this could mean more infections and maybe a third wave of Coronavirus.
Robert's been defending the government's relaxation of the restrictions.
He said:
"These are what can people can do, but, obviously, people don't have to test these rules to destruction. There may be cases where certain people will want to stay on their own, becuase if they get infected this Christmas it could result in some fatalities."
Speaking of his own Christmas, Robert said:
"My wife hasn't seen my daughter since March. We think Christmas will be a good opportunity for us to see her. She's going to be very careful and self-isolate for the week before she travels up to Yorkshire and during that week we'll be very careful. There won't be any hugging going on in our house, I can tell you."
