Talks are on-going with those involved in a number of developments in Scarborough.

That is from the Leader of the Borough Council who gave an update at Full Council yesterday.

It was in regards to the former Futurist Theatre site, in which Flamingo Land are the preferred bidder, and the Brunswick Shopping Centre in Scarborough, which is owned by Scarborough Group International.

Steve Siddons said:

"We continue to work with the site owners, which are Scarborough Group, and they have a number of proposals which they're working through a pipeline, which as you will be aware includes a cinema. Bear in mind that this is a private company but where we can help and assist in achieving our combined goals then we will do that.

"We continue to work with Flamingo Land. Flamingo Land are, as I've said many times, the preferred bidders for this site. But I guess one of the things that's happened is Covid has gotten in the way and I think it's probably created some delays in the way things are progressing.

"There has been interested in the top of the site and that's on-going. These negotiations do take time but until they've come to something that's more formal and is a formal proposal, we'll continue to work with both Flamingo Land and any other potential developers who are interested in this site."
