Scarborough’s Covid-19 infection rate remains at its lowest level since last September.

The borough’s seven-day coronavirus infection rate, per 100,000 people, stands at 11, which it dropped to on Friday.

It is the lowest the borough’s rate has been since September 1 last year, when it also hit 11.

At that time, the rate was rising - having fallen to zero in August.

It means the borough is still averaging just 12 new cases a week, half of what it was a fortnight ago.

Scarborough’s rate remains the lowest in the county, alongside Hambleton - and is below the national average, which is currently 21.

Mobile testing facilities will be available in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week, for anyone with symptoms to get tested.
