An event in Scarborough is back this weekend which aims to help local charities and organisations.

The town's Community Fair returns to Westborough tomorrow (Saturday 13th August) where stalls and entertainment will be from 10am to 4pm.

It will see charities and organisations highlight what they can offer to people and to try and raise money.

George Roberts, President of the Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers, said: "The Fair has been going since 1999 and it's well established. We're on our second year back after Covid so we've got lots of new things happening with some street entertainment. We're having a lot of support from the Borough Council, the organisations and shops within the main street, so we're looking at a slightly newer but bigger Fair this year.

"It creates such a community atmosphere, it brings various people from different organisations to the main street that's lively on a Saturday anyway. It gets some great awareness for them for people that may have just heard about them and want to know a bit more, or people that are totally fresh to the organisations involved.

"We're welcoming the Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough, Eric Broadbent, who will come along and assist me in judging the best dressed and most initiative stall. We've got lots of good, fun activities along the day as well and hopefully we can secure some good street entertainment as well.

"We're looking at not benefitting just the organisations that we're serving but the shops that are on the main street. It shows that we're very open, we're considerate about their needs, approaches and struggles that they've had over the last couple of years to hopefully boost their income on the day."
