Scarborough Armed Forces Day National Event hailed a success
Yesterday's celebrations have been enjoyed by thousands.

Scarborough was packed full of people yesterday, all there to celebrate the Armed Forces Day National Event.
It was a day full of events, with one of the main bits of excitement a dispay from the Red Arrows.
It started in a very exciting fashion, with the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team parachuting onto the beach. They put in a lot of practice for this and have even been to America to perfect the move.
Thousands watched the Merlin Helicopter fly past from the beach.
Later on in the day the RAF Typhoon was the last of the flight entertainment.
The closing parade topped off the day.
Gail Walters is from the Royal British Legion and says days like this are important:
"A day like this really highlights and puts a focus on the service that so many men and women from all backgrounds give to this country 365 days a year perfoming so many roles."
Well it's also great for the town to have such a huge event here.
Dean Wild works at the Fish Pan fish and chip shop on the seafront he says it's great:
"It's really nice for the town, especially after covid and lockdown. It's nice to see it busy and it's so good for the local businesses."
The Defence Minister for people and Veterans - Leo Dockerty says it's a
"It's absolutely magnificent, it's brilliant weather and we have had an amazingly warm welcome from everyone in Scarborough for this Armed Forces Day National Event. Absolutely brilliant seeing Royal Navy, Royal Airforce and the British Army along with cadets of all 3 services and families as well."
