Yorkshire coast visitors will be welcome, says Scarborough and Whitby MP
Robert Goodwill says the relaxation of restrictions will be good for tourism.
The MP for Scarborough and Whitby says staycations bringing more people to the Yorkshire coast isn't a problem.
Robert Goodwill thinks it'll be a boost for tourism, as travel restrictions will be relaxed no earlier than April the 12th.
Visitors last Summer caused concern for some residents.
Robert said:
"It is important we get the economy back into action, particularly, I think, the tourism economy. I've already spoken to Scarborough Borough Council about having extra park and ride facilities in place during the peak season - if, as many predict, we're going to see a boom in local tourism."
Visitors last Summer caused concern for some residents.
Robert added:
"It did upset a lot of people and I got people emailing me, complaining about people coming into the area.
But if you look at the way the infection has developed it's mixing in households, mixing in licensed premises, people maybe not taking precautions in some workplaces at least."
