Scarborough woman urges others to take on charity walking challenge
Jane is walking a hundred miles to raise money and awareness, marking Breast Cancer Awareness month
A woman from Scarborough, who is taking on a charity walking challenge, is urging others to do their bit to raise money and awareness.
Throughout October, which marks breast cancer awareness month, Jane Kemp-Buglass has been walking a hundred miles.
It's part of a national challenge to fundraise for the charity Breast Cancer Now.
Jane told Hits Radio: "Recently, I don't know if it's just the news I'm tuning into, but I've become very aware of how quickly this disease can catch up with people. It's not just a women's illness, men get breast cancer too but maybe that's not as well known.
"When it does come, it is life changing. I'm following a few friends that are on that particular life journey. You can hear the emotion in my voice, it's a very difficult time for people. I'm just hoping this, and other people doing this walk recognise what a great thing they're doing, to try and support the people who are going through that journey.
"It's never ever too late to start doing the walk yourself, and get people to sponsor yourself. The charity's rules are not there to say that when it gets to the end of October, if you haven't done the hundred miles you've failed, you can do this challenge any way you want to do it."
If you'd like to, you can donate to Jane's fundraiser on Facebook.
