A hospice which operates across North Yorkshire and the Yorkshire Coast is planning a big expansion so more people can get end of life care at home.

Scarborough-based St. Catherine's are recruiting staff so they can start covering Ryedale this Summer.

Sue Bolton is a junior sister and she said: "The team that we have are absolutely committed to the care that they give. They're very supportive of our patients and their families in the community. They form bonds, they get to know people at that time in their lives so it's a privilege to be involved in people's care at such at a time.

"We're very proud of the team that have joined us in the last year working in the community. We look forward to extending that service to the Ryedale patients that may be needing our help in the not so distant future.

"We'll have carers employed by the hospice actually working in Ryedale and we've done the same in Whitby and Scarborough. It's a large area requiring lots of personnel and health care assistants to actually go out and do the care."
