Drivers along the Yorkshire coast are being urged to check their cars, before setting off back to work and school.

It’s as thousands of people will be on the roads, tackling the rush to get to the office.

Ruth Gore, from Safer Roads Humber, said:

“We always recommend to just to do a quick car check before you actually set off. Check things like you've got enough fuel, you've got enough water or coolant. Make sure your tyres are pumped up and they've got the right tyre depth.

“It could actually save you a lot of time if, for example, you've got a puncture and services have to come and rescue you. One of the biggest problems on motorways and the dual carriageways is when people break down and it's often to do with tyres or running out of fuel, so make sure you've got enough. You don't really want to have breakdown cover coming out and rescuing you from the hard shoulder - it puts you and your family in danger."
